Kassandra Gervasi is an MA student in Political Science at McGill University, specializing in security, climate policy, and civil-military relations. Her research focuses on the growing role of the Canadian Armed Forces in domestic climate-related disaster response, examining institutional strain, operational readiness, and the long-term implications of relying on military assets for civilian emergencies.

She is currently working with the NATO Climate Change and Security Centre of Excellence (CCASCOE), contributing to research, education  and outreach initiatives at the intersection of climate risk and security policy. Her broader interests include national resilience, civil defence frameworks, and strengthening cooperation between governments, armed forces, and civil society in responding to climate-driven crises. Kassandra is particularly interested in advancing practical and legal policy-relevant research that supports adaptive, whole-of-society approaches to climate security.
